About

Art Director. Producer. Content Creator.

Headshot: Kevin Knutson, art director, producer, content creator

I specialize in amplifying ideas and narratives for thought-provoking brands.

In 2005, an encounter with a Grizzly bear in the Montana wilderness brought online my passion for media. It prompted me to pursue a discipline in video, photography, and design, running parallel to a fundamental motivation behind the things I do; educate the curious.

Since that encounter I have worked on productions all around the world; in over 14 countries spanning 5 continents (including Antarctica). Based in Seattle, I get to align my career with my three biggest passions in life; art, the outdoors, and technology.

With experience in all stages of production for customer-facing media with brands like REI, Filson, Brooks Running, National Geographic, and more, I thrive at developing, concepting, writing, producing, and executing content across multiple channels for retail, advertising, and other entertainment projects.

I believe content is a powerful tool for brands to express their identity and the most interesting ways to have authentic conversations with your customer or user is through telling a good story.

I bridge business needs with creative aspirations; streamlining productivity and ensuring an end product that never settles for ‘good enough’.

My Values

EDUCATION LEADS TO ACTION

Throughout the many brands I’ve worked with, and the many content strategies I’ve developed, I hold strongly that an informed audience is empowered to act. Brand transparency, narrative storytelling, editorials, data/graphs, blogs, etc– all help to educate, demystify, and create awareness for the public.

INSPIRATION IS POWER

Sometimes we need to be reminded of how amazing the world can be, either through the beauty of nature, the abilities or actions of people, or any other multitude of content that arrests a person’s attention. There are many platforms out there, and each one has a unique way of capturing an audience’s intrigue.

BE CURIOUS. ACT CURIOUSLY

Ideas develop from small curiosities. Let’s not be afraid to explore the ‘I wonder’s, the ‘what if’s, or the ‘have you ever looked at’s. But also, let’s not be afraid to show our somewhat playful side and act like humans from time to time by acting curiously.

ACTIVELY UN-HARM

It is not enough to simply not cause harm to the planet, the environment, or to people and our communities. We need to be active participants in making the world a better place for everyone and everything. This means working to reduce harm. For instance: dismantling systems of racism, advocating for sustainable policies, and creating a better future.

PRIVILEGE HAS A RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE OPPORTUNITY

Privilege takes many forms, and once acknowledged, one can be an ally (not a savior) for others by creating, yielding, or amplifying opportunities. We all benefit from an equitable and inclusive world.
